Director Of Nursing Surgical Services

Directs the management and coordination of the Surgical Services areas: Operating Room Unit, Recovery Room Unit, Central Sterile Supply Unit and the High Dependency Unit (HDU).

Ensures consistency of nursing standards and management across all Surgical Services areas. Ensures coordination of Nursing Services and Surgical Services through continuous collaboration with the Associate Chief Nursing Officer.

In collaboration with the Associate Chief Nursing Officer and Chief Medical Officer plans for future development of Surgical Services.

Coordinates budget preparation and monitors resource utilization; accountable for all expenditure. Optimizes utilization of Surgical Services resources.

Participates in nursing services strategic and operational management. In coordination with the Associate Chief Nursing Officer and Chief Medical Officer, identifies immediate and long-range objectives for Surgical Services. Assists Surgical Services Nursing Managers to prepare objectives, operational plans and strategies for implementation.

Coordinates budget and manpower planning, activity levels and capital equipment planning for Surgical Services.

Directs Surgical Services through Nursing Managers; ensures implementation of nursing service-wide programs within Surgical Services; maintains a hospital-wide perspective in planning and management of Surgical Services.

Ensures the coordination of Nursing Services and Surgical Services through continuous collaboration between the Associate Chief Nursing Officer and Nursing Managers.

Facilitates the employment, training and development of Saudi nationals; actively mentors / coaches Saudi staff to develop career paths and extend skills.

Exercise prudent judgment in assigning resources and expenditures, in relation to strategic goals for all divisions assigned.

Acts in role of Associate Chief Nursing Officer as assigned.

Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited School, otherwise, Diploma for Western candidate, with minimum of ten (10) years working experience of in an acute health care / hospital setting (100 bed or more), eight (8) years of which of progressive clinical and administrative nursing experience (Essential).

Master’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited School, with minimum of eight (8) years working experience of in an acute health care / hospital setting (100 bed or more), six (6) years of which of progressive clinical and administrative nursing experience (Desirable).

PhD Degree in Nursing from an accredited School, with minimum of two (2) years working experience of in an acute health care / hospital setting (100 bed or more), of progressive clinical and administrative nursing experience (Desirable).

Current License as a Registered Nurse (RN) from country of Professional practice (Essential).

Valid Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) Classification and Registration in good standing (Essential).
