Provides education to KKESH patients and the public on eye–related and general health topics. And assists in the development and production of health education materials. Also, participates in health education activities within and outside KKESH.

Bachelor’s degree in Health Education, or Public Health from an accredited university (Essential).
Minimum of one (1) year working experience in the field of health education in healthcare facility/ hospital setting (Desirable).
Valid Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) Classification and Registration in good standing (Essential).
Demonstrates current knowledge of ophthalmic and general medical conditions. Possesses an indepth understanding of the teaching / learning process and adult education principles.
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills required to coordinate and supervise patient teaching and resource management activities. Activities are implemented in a proactive and organized manner, that indicates informed critical thinking skills and ability to prioritize.
Demonstrates the skills required to evaluate the patient’s comprehension of information provided; uses terminology and teaching aids appropriate to the patient’s age and comprehension ability. Promotes optimal patient knowledge and understanding of health regimes. Identifies indicators of patient or visitor misunderstanding, or failure to meet learning objectives.
Demonstrates an indepth understanding of the patient teaching process in practice, with ongoing reassessment, planning implementation and evaluation. Learning needs are identified, using knowledge that identifies high-risk patients and potential problems.
Assesses patient and family learning needs related to ophthalmic and medical care, and plans teaching as part of the multidisciplinary team. Regular patient rounds are completed and patient request for assistance responded to in a timely manner. Patient and family teaching is provided within Ambulatory services as required / requested.
Discharge planning is addressed on admission, on-going and as plans are modified. Discharge teaching is completed in a timely and complete manner.
Provides accurate, complete and prompt reports on patient care issues to the Health Education oManager. Collaborates effectively as a multidisciplinary team member.
Provides group teaching sessions for inpatients; sessions are well organized, using a variety of teaching tools, and outcomes of learning are measured.
Documentation is informative, complete, accurate, concise and legible. Documentation follows KKESH standards and reflects the patient education process from learning needs assessment through evaluation. Patient records are reviewed for deficiencies per protocols.
Represents the health education department in health education programs in the community, as assigned. Provides health education materials and advice within the scope of the health education program. Attends and monitors the KKESH / community hot line as assigned.
Participates in organizing the following events: Health Education campaign, public events, National and International Health Days, education awareness programs, and the Annual Health Education Symposium.
Participates in the design, production and dissemination of health education materials throughout the hospital. Reviews health education materials, participates on the Health Education Committee’s teams as assigned; monitors the stock levels of health education materials in the hospital area assigned.
