Qualifications:
Education / Licensure:
1. Two-year Diploma in Medical Laboratory or equivalent from an accredited institute (Essential).
OR,
2. Bachelor’s Degree in college of science (Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology) from an accredited university (Essential).
3. Classification and Registration in Medical Laboratory or equivalent from SCFHS (Essential).
Professional Experience:
1. Minimum of one (1) year experience working in the capacity of Laboratory Technician/Phlebotomist (Desirable).

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
1.Performs venipuncture and micro sample collection of blood samples always ensuring proper patient identification.
2.Always Observes Body Substance Isolation procedure.
3.Prepares, labels, dispenses and stores all prepared solutions as specified in the Technical Procedure Manuals.
4.Logs patient samples accurately in the Laboratory Track Care and Track Lab.
5.Prepares samples and forms to be sent to Referral Laboratories.
6.Performs clerical functions, answering the telephone, relaying messages to the proper
Section separates and files Laboratory reports.
7.Orient new Technicians in the performance of all work-related duties.
8.Shares the workload and Inventory Control of Phlebotomy with other staff.
9.Maintains cleanliness and organization of any work area of assignment.
10.Performs duties assigned by Section Supervisors in all Sections of the Laboratory when requested following training and always under supervision.
11.Assists in the Microbiology Section as assigned or as needed.
12.Participates in Continuing Quality Improvement activities.
13.Adheres to JCI & CBAHI Laboratory Standards for good Laboratory practice.
14.Participates in Laboratory Environmental Monitoring.
15.Attends Continuing Education programs and in-services.
16.Performs all duties in a professional, effective and confidential manner.
17.Performs all other duties as required or assigned.
