Provides direct patient care under the direction and supervision of the Head Imaging & Ultrasound and Senior Ophthalmic US Technologists based on learned specialized knowledge and technical skills, set protocols and published standards of Joint Commission International Accreditation (JCIA), under the guidance of the Diagnostic Imaging (DI) Chairman. Responsible to achieve successful results from presented Ophthalmic US training programs.

Bachelor’s Degree in Optometry from an accredited university (Essential).
Minimum of one (1) year experience working as an Optometrist in Ophthalmic Clinic (Desirable).
Valid Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) Classification and Registration in good standing (Essential).
Establishes priorities and performs work in a timely, organized and efficient manner. |
Demonstrates the ability to operate computer equipment assigned to designated work area. |
Establishes positive and accurate communication with physicians, nursing staff, ancillary departments, patients and co-workers. |
Contributes to specific patient processing transactions including patient/procedure record and patient data entry using the Radiology Information System. |
Properly identifies patients according to patient safety practices of applying two means of identification before an exam. |
Provides appropriate patient education practices before performing an exam. |
Accepts and completes ophthalmic ultrasound examinations within the guidelines of provided technique and positioning procedures, and department and hospital policies utilizing available resources. |
Assists and performs accurate clinical ophthalmic ultrasound examinations using: · Various Ultrasound A/B scanners · Keratometers and IOL Master · Optical Coherence Tomography and Heidelberg Retina Tomography Unit |
Properly documents preliminary findings in accordance with standards set by the DID management for adult, pediatric and geriatric patient. |
Appropriately archives and transfers images for viewing and permanent image record using the Picture Archiving and Communication System, framegrabbers and network interface. |
Coordinates scheduled patient exam revisions in cooperation with the Radiologist, colleagues, attending physicians and other personnel based on patient need and physician recommendation. |
Actively pursues learning opportunities in ophthalmic US and other related diagnostic imaging technologies to contribute to the advancement of imaging applications. Applies learned knowledge in a responsible and accurate manner for the enhancement of patient care. |
Demonstrates knowledge of medical terminology and diagnostic imaging ultrasound procedures and practices. |
Acts as a resource person regarding patient and exam tracking and imaging procedures, processes and practices. |
Participates in the Ophthalmic Ultrasound Training Program with successful results including Level I and II advancement requirements. |
Acquires a minimum of two (2) years ophthalmic ultrasound application experience. |
Successfully passes all written and practical Ophthalmic Ultrasound examinations and evaluations. |
Contributes to the orientation and training of ophthalmic professionals (non-DID or non-KKESH) as assigned and appropriate based on achieved level of knowledge. |
Performs all duties in a professional, effective and confidential manner. |
Performs all other related duties as required or assigned. |
