Provides leadership role for staff in performance of functions involved in the safe, efficient distribution of medications, in accordance with relevant laws, rules, regulations and standards of pharmaceutical care.

- Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent from an accredited university (Essential).
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience working in a capacity of a Pharmacist in healthcare/ hospital setting including unit-dose drug distribution, aseptic pharmaceutical preparation and drug therapy monitoring, outpatient pharmacy, medication delivery services, narcotic/controlled substances issuance and record keeping, discharge pharmacy counseling and general medication counseling, and inventory management. Participation in clinical activities (e.g. Drug Utilization Review (DUR), Adverse Drug Reaction (ADR), quality assurance, medication reconciliation, and drug information) (Essential for Non-Saudi candidates, otherwise Desirable).
- Current License as Pharmacist from country of Professional practice (Essential).
- Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) Classification and Registration (Essential).
- Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Reviews electronic physician’s orders into pharmacy computer system to ensure appropriateness of dosing and mode of administration. |

2. |
Demonstrates ability and competence in clinical judgment, to assure rationality of therapy and intervenes appropriately by direct communication with the physicians and documented in the pharmacy note. |

3. |
Data entry and verification using Pyxis MedStation System. |
|
4. |
Monitors patient computer medication record in order to prevent drug interactions, allergic and adverse drug reactions. |
|
5. |
Demonstrates skills in the preparation and dispensing of medications as well as checking of completed works. |
|
6. |
Provides drug information and communicates with prescribers, nurses and other staff regarding drug therapy or safe drug handling. |
|
7. |
Supervises Assistant Pharmacists, Technicians and other staff in the performance of assigned duties. |
|
8. |
Performs patient teaching programs on appropriate use of medications. |
|
9. |
Performs inspection of nursing units, discusses service problems with Head Nurses/Unit Managers, and recommends solutions to the Supervisor. |
|
10. |
Prepares extemporaneously compounded medications, including products requiring aseptic techniques. |
|
11. |
Maintains control and security of all drugs including dispensing, record keeping and secured storage of narcotics and controlled medications. |
|
12. |
Responsible for the shift duty and on-call duty. |
|
13. |
Contributes to the educational needs of the department. |
|
14. |
Guidance received from Supervisors is appropriately utilized to resolve difficult issues. |
|
15. |
Resolves staffing issues occurring on their shift. |
|
16. |
Communicates information regarding operations and unresolved clinical issues to incoming shift. |
|
17. |
Triages, documents and resolves administrative issues as appropriate for all Pharmacy related areas. |
|
18. |
Assists with development, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of night Pharmacy workflow improvement initiatives. |
|
19. |
Maintains the routine pick-up and delivery of medication as required. |
|
20. |
Assists in the development and provision of patient educational programs regarding appropriate use of medications. |
|
21. |
Conducts quality improvement tasks in conjunction with other staff members. |
|
22. |
Assists with assigned drug utilization, reviews data gathering and analysis. |
|
23. |
Monitors and oversees that the pharmacy is kept in a neat, clean and orderly fashion. |
|
24. |
Performs all duties in a professional, effective and confidential manner. |
|
25. |
Performs all other related duties as required or assigned. |
