1.      

Oversee the daily operations of Laboratory activities a manner which will assure high quality, efficient and effective services.

2.      

Stays current with new theories, Laboratory equipment and methodology and consults with Section Supervisors in the development of new procedures and improvement of current procedures in place.

3.      

Monitor and control inventory levels, in collaboration with the Laboratory supply coordinator.

4.      

Ensures that employees are properly oriented to perform their assigned duties with explicit documentation of this orientation.

5.      

Conducts staff evaluations and competency checks.

6.      

Ensures that documentation such as Technical Procedure Manuals, Laboratory Policy and Procedures, Quality Control and preventive maintenance, etc., are current and accurate in coordination with lab quality officer.

7.      

Arranges for the running of the College of American Pathologists Laboratory Comparison Program and the timely submission of results for evaluation.

8.      

Monitors Laboratory staff compliance to policy and procedure for safety, dress code and compliance with good Laboratory practices.

9.      

Ensures professional and congenial relations are maintained between Laboratory staff members.

10.    

Part of the representation team for the Laboratory in interdepartmental operation and coordinating Clinical Laboratory functions with other areas of the hospital.

11.    

Make sure to apply and monitors continuing quality improvement projects.

12.    

Helps in preparation and monitor departmental budget for personnel, supply and equipment and its maintenance.

13.    

Participates and encourages participation in continuing Education for Professional development. Conducts an annual In-service in Laboratory Safety for Laboratory personnel.

14.    

Develop monthly and annual goals, and monitors to completion.

15.    

Sets an example of promptness and dependability to all Laboratory personnel.

16.    

Performs all duties in a professional, effective and confidential manner.

17.    

Performs all other related duties as required or assigned.
