Job Description
An Emergency Medical Specialist, responsible for providing the immediate response to medical emergency calls and is the first healthcare professional on the scene and the level of care he provides which ranges from dealing with life threatening situations to minor illnesses and injuries and the job requires the ability to assess the case and provide basic treatment appropriate to the case.
Requirements and Responsibilities
Bachelor Degree in Emergency Medical or equivalent from an accredited Institute (Essential)
Valid Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) Classification and Registration (Essential).
Maintenance of current Basic Cardiac Life Support certification (Essential).
Advanced Cardiac Life Support ACLS (Essential).
Pediatric Advanced Life Support PALS (Essential).
Advanced Trauma Life Support ATLS/PHTLS (Essential).

Receives direction and assignments from Physicians and provides technical support to optimize patient care. |
|
Responds to emergency calls such as RRT and Code Blue, assess patient’s condition and makes critical care decisions quickly with the advice of the Physician. |
|
Dealing with resuscitation / CPR and emergency airway procedures. |
|
Monitors and administers medication, pain relief and intravenous infusions with the advice of the Physician. |
|
Dealing with transportation of patients to other hospitals and continues to provide treatment and care whilst in transit. |
|
Responsible for Medical triage of patients with obtaining and documenting of vital signs, administration of oxygen therapy, cardiac monitoring and non-invasive blood pressure monitoring systems. |
|
Assists with other technical functions such as: Obtaining 12 lead ECGs, IV insertion, bag valve mask resuscitators and external defibrillators, etc. for advanced life support applications. |
|
Assists with wound care and nasogastric tubes. |
|
Maintains a running inventory of medical supplies on the response vehicle and monitors the daily ambulance checklist. |
|
Overseeing the sterilization and disinfection of the ambulance after transporting or treating any patients with infectious diseases. |
|
Maintains appropriate documentation. |
|
Responsible for performing tasks that are within the scope of his / her educational preparation, knowledge and permitted with the policies and procedures and direction of the Physician. |
|
Ensures complete handover to the concerned Health Care Providers. |
|
Performs all duties in a professional, effective and confidential manner. |
|
Performs all other related duties as required or assigned. |
|
Participates in own performance assessment and identifies areas for professional and personal development; seeks opportunities for development through cross training, in-service and continuing education. Accepts and acts on constructive feedback related to development. |

Documentation is accurate and timely according to the policies and procedures. |
|
Supports the mission and values of KKESH. Meets performance expectations described in this performance appraisal document. Follows the hospital policies and procedures including dress code, non-smoking policy, sick leave, etc. |
