Job Description
Responsible for determining risk factors for hereditary diseases and disorders in patients genetic testing and offer education and counseling to patients and their families. They are trained to analyze genetic data and communicate risk factors to patients and their families.
Requirements and Responsibilities
4.1. Education / Licensure / Professional Experience:
4.1.1. Master Degree in Genetic Counseling or equivalent from an accredited university with minimum of two (2) years of experience genetic counseling (Essentia).
4.1.2. Classification and Registration from SCFHS (Essential).
4.1.3. Experience in eye research (Desirable).
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Provides genetic testing and analyze genetic data after consulting with the genetic disease consultant. |

2. |
Offer education and counselling to patients and their families and communicate risk factors to patients and their families. |
|
3. |
Analyze patient histories. |
|
4. |
Perform genetic risk calculations. |
|
5. |
Educate families about potential health risks. |
|
6. |
Help patients to cope with a diagnosis through counselling. |
|
7. |
Generate separate reports for patients that include mode of inheritance, genetic diagnosis and risk to children. |
|
8. |
Establish, curation and maintain the genetic results database. |
|
9. |
Participate in genetic research. |
|
10. |
Update national registry for PCG, IRD and other ocular genetic diseases. |
|
11. |
Performs all duties in a professional, effective and confidential manner. |
|
12. |
Performs all other related duties as required or assigned. |
