LAUNDRY WORKER

1.      

Collects soiled linen from patient care areas, as scheduled.

2.      

Sorts soiled linen by fabric type, color, and cleaning technique.

3.      

Inspects articles for stains and fabrics that require special care.

4.      

Prepares loads of linen for washing and drying, in accordance with the rated capacity of the machine. Machines will be operated to obtain the maximum efficiency of cleaning and disinfecting chemicals used.

5.      

Follows established standard procedures in operating equipment used for the daily operations of the unit. 

6.      

Utilizes the appropriate amount of chemicals as prescribed in the formulary.

7.      

Implements quality control checks as linen pass through the Laundry process.

8.      

Follows procedures when linen items fail to meet established standards.

9.      

Delivers cleaned and disinfected linen to departments, in recommended quantities based on patient census, schedule, and requirements.

10.    

Performs all duties in a professional, effective, and confidential manner.

11.    

Performs all other related duties as required or assigned.
