Radiation Safety Officer

Qualifications:

Education / Licensure/ Professional Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Radiology Science/Technology or Medical Physics/Technology from an accredited university with minimum of five (5) year experience working in the capacity of Radiology/ Medical Physics (Essential).

Radiation Safety Officer RSO Licensed by Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Commission (Essential).

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

1.Compliance with applicable professional standards (CBAHI ,NRRC etc), laws, and regulations; Implementing safety measures on a regular basis

2.Development and implementation of policies and procedures consistent with those of the organization to ensure efficient operation of the programs /projects

3.Determine compliance with rules and regulations, license conditions and the conditions of projects approval specified by the radiation safety

4.Review proposals and protocols for projects/activities involving the use of ionizing radiation within the KKESH & RC.

5.Collaborate and represent KKESH & RC with National & international regulatory agencies (such as MOH, SFDA, NRRC etc.) on matters pertaining to radiation protection standards, guidelines and projects including submitting TLDs periodically for reading institutions, collecting them and ensuring all staff have them.

6.Coordinate directly with governmental agencies pertaining to Radiation safety with his account by affiliating/linking KKESH & RC to the concern agencies like Ministry of Health, the Food and Drug Authority, the Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Authority.

7.Works with leaderships, individual principal investigators in the development and implementation of new proposals within the Radiation Safety Program 

8.Advises leadership on technical and regulatory issues regarding the strategic direction of the Radiation Safety Program
