Transporter

Participates in the safe transfer of patients through the perioperative phase.  Assists the Nursing staff with patient positioning.

Transports the patients through the perioperative phase (before and after procedures as needed)

Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following all standards and procedures.

Adheres to the infection control standards, maintains a clean work area, ensures all transport equipment is in safe working order; restocks and stationary supplies as required.

Demonstrates knowledge of Hospital wide service Departments and communication system.

Demonstrates the knowledge and skills required to safely transport patients within the Hospital.

Demonstrates the knowledge and skills required on the unit during “after hours” and “on-call” situations.

Demonstrates knowledge and skills in application of the Hospital wide patient identification system.

Acts as a unit receptionist, when required.  Supports Hospital regulation related to visitor control, non-smoking and other safety issues; reinforces Hospital regulations to patients and visitors in an objective manner.

Performs all duties in a professional, effective and confidential manner.

Performs all other related duties as required or assigned.
